JAN JUK

He was an air gunner, born on 25th February 1918 and known to be in service 8th July 1943.  He was awarded the Order of Virtuti Militari.  In Poland he served in 64 Light Bomber Squadron and during the September campaign he took part in several reconnaissance and bombing missions.  On one occasion he was in a P23 Karas and shot down a German fighter.

It is not clear about how he came to England but he served with 304 Squadron as ground crew from November 1940 as an L/Ac and later rose to the rank of Warrant Officer.  He remained with the squadron until September 1943 when he moved on to the Advanced Training Wing.  From June 1944 until June 1945 he was at the Polish Depot at RAF Blackpool.
